Jira Align allows you to connect and sync your work items from a Jira Cloud or Jira Data Center instance. You can connect existing Jira Projects by adding information into Jira Align, which will provide the details you need to enable the syncing of your work items.
The process outlined below is a step-by-step guide to adding Projects and Boards to Jira Align. After you've completed these easy-to-follow steps, the Jira Project will be configured to allow Jira stories, epics, sub-tasks and sprints to sync to Jira Align.
Before you start, check that the Issue Type IDs and custom field IDs are set, and workflow state mappings configured.
To set the Issue Type IDs, go to Administration > Jira Settings > Jira Setup tab. Scroll down to the Issue Type section and enter the IDs for the Issue Types from Jira. You can read this article from Atlassian if you need to know how to find the Issue Types from Jira.
To set the custom field IDs, navigate to Administration > Jira Settings > Jira Setup tab. Scroll down to the custom fields section and enter the IDs for the custom fields from Jira. Here's how to find the custom field IDs from Jira.
1. In Jira Align, go to Administration – Jira Settings. (You’ll find the Administration gear in the bottom left corner of Jira Align, and then see the menu item Jira Settings.)
2. Go to the Manage Projects tab. (The Manage Projects tab is the first one in Jira Settings.)

NOTE: This requires that the incoming Jira Sprints are associated with the proper Sync Sprints within Jira Align. Look out for future blogs where we explore sprint management.
